Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

You all knew this was coming and what better book to use for my first review on here than a book about Adrian? Oh, Adrian <3 I love you with all my heart *stares dreamily*

..... *blinks and snaps out of daydream* Oops, sorry XD Anyways! Onto the review ^^

Let me just say that I absolutely loved this book! I don't think there are a lot of things that I can criticize so this just may end up being a review of me gushing over it...but I'll try not to do that for your sakes ;)

Lets start off with the fact that it's dual POV AGAIN!! :D That automatically makes it better because you get a glimpse into Adrian's brain and that's always my favorite parts. You get Sydney's time in re-education and how absolutely horrible it is, and then you get Adrian's struggles in finding her. There were parts when I wanted to smack Adrian upside the head for being stupid but in the end it made everything right <3

Sydney: She's just one badass character. No matter how much torture they put her through, she never broke. The only time she ever talked was if they were hurting people because of her. She's selfless and brave and just all around an amazing character and I have to give props to Richelle for the amount of character development went into Sydney throughout the whole series.

Sydney has grown a lot since the first book and we see here just how strong she is. Even while she's in re-education, she still manages to help the others by making the solution that stops the effects of the re-inking that the Alchemists do on the other detainees. She's definitely one of my favorite main characters by far ^^

Adrian: What can I say about him? He's funny, smart, sensitive, and probably one of the best book boyfriends I've ever read about. Sure he's had his ups and downs.. Nina *scowls*... But overall he stayed on point about finding Sydney. I know there were some of you that wanted Rose to end up with Adrian in VA but in my opinion, their relationship was a disaster waiting to happen. Rose never pushed Adrian to be a better person; Sydney does. I mean look at all Adrian has accomplished by just being with her! He quit smoking and drinking, to an extent, and he actually finished a semester of college. If he was with Rose, none of that would have happened.

Sydrian: Sydrian...It totally happened in this book!! Oh my gosh! I so was not expecting that to happen but I have to admit I'm glad it did. And what didn't I expect might you ask? Well...I'll get to that in a moment *evil laugh* XD

Now on to the plot of the book!

So, the opening scene is with Sydney in re-education. I'm glad that Richelle started it off like that. We get the feel of it being months later and that Sydney is still staying strong. It ties in with the ending to The Fiery Heart perfectly!

Then it switches to Adrian's POV and we see his struggles. Neither of them can connect with the other and it's reflected in everything that Adrian does. Being apart from Sydney had him going back to some of his old habits...habits that he shouldn't have even considered going back to no matter how broken up about Sydney he had gotten.

Jill...being the sweetheart that she is, did something unexpected. She called his mother.

Yes yes. Such a shock! Daniella Ivashkov is out of prison everyone! But I don't think that she really learned anything during the time she served like she told Adrian she had. Daniella takes Adrian to court with her in order to get him out of his little funk. That just ends up making him act like even more of an ass -.- He starts partying with Nina, the other spirit user who saved her sister Olive from being a Strigoi.

All of this is happening while Sydney is struggling in Re-education. The other detainees avoid her, making her an outcast. The only person who talks to her is this guy named Duncan. Duncan has his own back story about a friend of his, Chantall, and only talks to Sydney when he thinks it's okay.

It's when she starts asking about the drug that gets pumped through to their rooms each night that things start getting interesting. Emma, Sydney's roommate, helps her turn off the gas so that she can try and reach Adrian through her dreams. The only problem is that Adrian had started drinking more and more and checking in with her less and less that she wasn't able to reach him until days later.

Their reunion was bittersweet <3 Anyways. The only reason Adrian connected with her was because Nina, I don't like her -.-, had kissed him and he had enough sense to push her away and stop drinking.

This all leads to him going back to Palm Springs and recruiting the help of Marcus, Eddie and Trey. This all seems like it could be the start of a funny joke...A Moroi, a Dhampir, a human, and an ex-Alchemist set off on an adventure....*crickets chirp* No? Okay XD

So while Adrian and the clan are attempting a rescue mission, Sydney is doing her own form of rescuing in re-education. She gives the others the ink that stops the effects of the re-inking that the Alchemists give them to make them behave.

Gah this is getting too long >.<

Fast forward through the rescue mission where everyone is reunited and Sydney tells Adrian that they aren't going to Marcus' safe house. This in turn leads them to be almost captured by Alchemists again...Then Adrian gets a fantastic idea!! MARRIAGE!! :DDD

Lissa had said something to him about protecting those who are her subjects and Adrian figured that if Sydney was married to him, then Lissa would have to protect her too.

So Sydney Sage finally becomes Sydney Ivashkov! <333 My heart was melting throughout the whole scene!

They get chased by more Alchemists but finally manage to get away and fly to court...what low and behold her father and Zoe are there....

Lissa has them escorted out when Adrian makes this long declaration of love (so touching <3) and everything is okay, for now.

The next more though....Jill is missing. Now I totally can't wait for the next book!

Sorry that was so long D: I didn't mean for it to be xD
