The End...But Hopefully A Beginning As Well?

So...gosh this is hard to write...I'm going to be ending my time here on Read It Write Now. I don't know if I will ever come back...but for now I won't be blogging here anymore. I recently started working two jobs and with the holidays coming up, I just don't have the time to maintain this blog...

HOWEVER!! Don't fret my lovely followers. I will still be reading and reviewing books! I just decided to pair up with Austine over at NovelKnight instead! She needed help with her blog and I decided to give it a try. For the last month I have been guest reviewing over at NK so that we could both test the waters a bit. And it's totally worked out! We've even started planning so many awesome things for next year!!

So, even though this is the end of Read It Write Now, this is not the end of my blogging career. If you'd like to follow over at NovelKnight I would really appreciate it! I will always value your following and I hope you will still follow my reviews in the future <3

I love you all so much! And I hope to hear from you, if not on this post, then over at NK <3333

About FIRE IN YOU (Standalone Contemporary Romance Releasing November 28, 2016): From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…
Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun.  It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living. She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what. Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than her heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

The Lost Codex Blog Tour

THE LOST CODEX EXCERPT #1

My window is opened, tiny as it may be, and I do not waste it. I dart forward, the vorpal blade firm in my hand as I mentally count down seconds. The beast releases a mournful gurgle of frustration, its elongated whiskers and scaly jowls limply sagging around massive teeth. When I skid to a stop, the tips of my leather boots collide with its tail.
Another gurgle sounds, one ripe with helpless fury.
A satchel is thrown to the ground before I pry thick scales off with the end of my blade. “My apologies.” I gasp as I wrench off bits of its tough hide. “I promise, I’ll depart momentarily.”
Its body shudders, as if allowed, it would quake with indignation. Once I reach the count of ten, I shove my treasure into the satchel and sprint out of the jabberwocky’s lair.
Seven.
The earth beneath my feet rumbles.
Six.
Jubjub birds explode from the trees at the sheer intensity of the beast’s wrath.
Five.
Rumbling turns to assured quaking.
Four. Three.
I barrel over broken branches and bushes, my hair snagging upon greedy twigs.
Two.
I shift my sword, lifting up a free arm.
One.
Jace grabs hold, lifting me up to settle between his chest and his stallion’s withers. I take hold of the reigns, laughter burbling from the both of us as we gallop through the remaining thicket. Bursting into the Dark Meadows, sunlight warms my face. My smile is so wide, my cheeks hurt. My lungs sting, the breath from them comes in exhilarated bursts.
The Caterpillar often accuses me of enjoying life on the edge of my blade. His point holds validity, because goodness, do I feel alive right now.

Honestly...I don't know how to answer this question. I haven't read the other books so I'm not sure which villains are included in them...What is your favorite villain?

It's Monday! Let's Discuss...Alternating Point of View

This week the topic I thought we would discuss is alternating POV

When I first started reading, I hated POV changes and I hated third person. As I continued reading, however, I have grown to love those two writing styles more and more. I like how with third person we get a feel for each the character and their surroundings as well. I like how when an author writes in third person, the generally rotate between characters. It just gives it a deeper feel to it.

There are some cons, however. With third person, you generally don't get a lot of the inner dialogue. There's always a mystery surrounding the character being focused on. But I kind of like that. It keeps me guessing.

POV changes are a little tricky. If they aren't done right it can lead to the book not being as great as it could have been if it had just focused on the one character. I see this a lot with authors who write in first person and change POVs every other chapter. It mainly shows in the writing of the male character (if it's being switched between love interests etc etc) when a female is writing the story. Now don't get me wrong, there are *many* authors out there who pull this off flawlessly. But the bad POV changes are still out there (I was one of them haha).

In the end, for me personally, I like POV changes when it's written in third person. Actually...I generally prefer third person over first person now. I think it's because it has become so common, especially in fantasy books.

What is your view on alternating POV? Love it or hate it?

It's Monday! Let's Dicsuss...Diversity

This week the topic I thought we would discuss is diversity and why we need it.

There has been a lot of tension in the bookish community regarding diversity and the lack of it in literature. It makes me sad that so many people are disagreeing with the fact that everyone should be represented. Sure, it's the author's choice on what they want to write about, but it should also be on the author's radar that they need to represent their readers. If you write something for an entire community to read, then wouldn't you in turn try and make your readers feel connected to your characters in many different ways.

And before any of you think I am judging you or thinking poorly of your book choices, please don't. Because I, too, have found myself not reading a lot of diverse literature. I have only recently started noticing the patterns in books. But that's all it takes, is that one moment where you finally see the world a little bit differently, where you take into account other people's feelings. We NEED more diversity in books. How else are we supposed to represent the world? The world is such a diverse place and it needs to be talked about.

With everything going on with this election we see even more clearly now how messed up some people can think. How there are so many people in the world who think it is okay to suppress the needs of others. We see it everyday, but not everyone realizes what they are actually seeing. This needs to stop. We need to come together as human beings and support each other. I am so tired of seeing everyone fighting and hating each other.

So, what I am asking you, my followers, is to pick up a book that might be out of your comfort zone. Read something that you have never read about before and put yourself in the shoes of those who struggle more than you do. It'll be worth it, trust me.

October Wrap Up + November TBR

Oh my goodness...It feels like October only lasted a second! And now here were are in November, with everything about to change forever with this election. Also, with history being made when the Cubs won the World Series! Ben and his family went crazy over it (they're big Chicago fans haha). I'm honestly so nervous for the rest of this year, and the years to come, but we shall see what happens won't we?

In My Life
This month was a little crazy in terms of my personal life. But it was a good crazy! In the beginning of the month, Ben and I went on a 5k Night Run. It was really fun, but definitely could have been better. The "awesome stages of music" that were supposed to be playing all throughout the run were really small and you could barely hear them. But afterwards, we went to a friends house and had a small party. It was a really great night. But the highlight of my month was getting my job. Or well...Getting both of my jobs. Two weeks ago, I started working at Mountain Mikes Pizza. I have to say, even though I'm dealing with pizza all day, I love the people I work with. They make the day go by faster and I can't wait to form more of a friendship with them. But last Friday I had an interview with Barnes and Noble! It went really well and today they called me to offer me the position! I'm so excited. This is pretty much every bookworm's dream haha
But that's about it going on in my life right now. It's going to be a long holiday season that's for sure!

November TBR
- Finish The Thousandth Floor
- Finish Timekeeper
- Of Fire and Stars
- Shadow Fall
- Lola and the Boy Next Door
- This Savage Song
- Isla and the Happily Ever After
- A Shadow Bright and Burning

This TBR is definitely very loose! Who knows how often I'll get to read now that I'll be working two jobs. So I'm very sorry if I don't post as often! I'm going to try and schedule a handful of posts to keep the blog at least a little active

It's Monday! Let's Discuss....Mental Illness/Abuse In Books

This week the topic I thought we would discuss is mental illness and abuse in books, specifically YA

Recently I have seen so many tweets about how it's okay to have a mental illness and that if you do there are people who understand and are willing to talk with you about it, and I gotta say, it warms my heart to see that. Mental illness IS okay to talk about and you shouldn't feel ashamed for feeling the way you feel.

I, myself, suffer from depression and anxiety. My family always made me feel like I shouldn't talk about it. My father, scoffing, and telling me to suck it up, that we all dealt with stuff and it was how life worked.

Then I found books where they actually had main characters with mental illnesses and I realized that it was actually okay to talk about it and okay to ask for help. We need more of these books. Even though there are more now than before, I still feel like there are too many people who believe mental illness is all an act or feels uncomfortable with it being talked about.

It's the same with abuse. I've talked to a few people on Twitter and they said they shy away from books with that type of subject because it makes them uncomfortable. It should. It should make you so uncomfortable that you want to do something about it. That you want to read as much about it so you can inform others so that people aren't ignorant. There are too many cases nowadays where sexual abuse, or even other forms of abuse, is dismissed because there isn't "proof." We should not live in a time where it is so hard for people to put their attackers away.

I believe the only way for things to change, is to put more information out on the subject. To start writing books, discussing it on social media, anywhere that you think it will reach people. That's actually what my main book is about. It has 4 main characters who have suffered some type of abuse, be it mental, sexual, or physical.

So please, be more aware and make sure people who you know have gone or is going through this, know that it's okay to talk about it.
