#TackleYourTBR Read-A-Thon

So I was just informed about another read-a-thon coming up in the month of September and as I am trying to read as many books as I can before the year ends (since I got a horrible start and barely managed to read much this year) I decided to sign up! Tressa from Wishful Endings hosts the annual Tackle Your TBR Read-A-Thon during September and it will run from the 12th to the 26th

I don't have a set list of books I want to read yet, but I know it will mostly be books from series I haven't finished yet so that I can get more books finished for my Finishing the Series challenge! If you guys want to sign up you don't even have to have a blog! There is a Goodreads group, you can participate via Twitter, etc. All of the details are on Tressa's page linked above :)

It's Monday! Let's Discuss...Overhyped Books

This week I thought we would discuss overhyped books and how they can influence people's opinions about them

For me, I feel that when books are overhyped, there is an expectation to LOVE them. I think the views of others, whether it be based on the actual story, the cover, or any other aspect of the book, influence others. Because as a community we want to like and support those popular books that we've heard so much about.

This, in turn, causes a general fear about *not* loving the book. I've seen so many posts where people say "Please don't hate me but I didn't like *insert book title here*" People should not feel ashamed for liking or not liking a book. We all have our own preferences when it comes to what we read and there is nothing wrong with being different.

But there is also a point where criticism of a book can become to much. It's understandable that there are people who don't like a certain book, but be nice about it. Authors have feelings too and just because you don't like their book doesn't mean they didn't work hard on it. (I just wanted to address the drama of this week. We're all human, we make mistakes, but there is a point where we must be held accountable for our actions. We are all part of the same community and it is so much better when we are all sharing love instead of hate with each other)

I apologise for the short post this week but I had a busy weekend and didn't have the time to fully flesh out this discussion post

What are your thoughts on Overhyped Books?

Waiting on Wednesday #6

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine where we get to highlight an upcoming release we are excited for.

Synopsis:
Lily Proctor has come a long way from the weak, sickly girl she used to be. She has gained power as a witch and a leader, found her way home, chosen to face battle again, and (after losing her first love and being betrayed by her new love) she has learned more about loss and grief than she ever wanted to know.

Thrust once again into a society different from anything they have ever seen, Lily and her coven are determined to find answers―to find a new path to victory, a way to defeat the monstrous Woven without resorting to nuclear weapons or becoming a tyrannical mass murderer like her alternate self, Lillian. But sometimes winning requires sacrifices . . . and when the only clear path to victory lies at Lillian's side, what price will Lily be willing to pay?

Internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini takes us on another emotionally wrenching thrill ride in the stunning conclusion to her Worldwalker Trilogy.

***
I just recently read the first book of this trilogy and I really liked it! So I'm really excited for this one to release so I can binge the last two books together
