The exhilaratingly seductive new series from the author of the bestselling Starcrossed series

Love burns. Worlds collide. Magic reigns.

This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying many of the experiences that other teenagers take for granted...which is why she is determined to enjoy her first (and perhaps only) high-school party. But Lily's life never goes according to plan, and after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class Lily wishes she could just disappear.

Suddenly Lily is in a different Salem - one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruelest of all the Crucibles is Lillian . . . Lily's identical other self in this alternate universe. This new version of her world is terrifyingly sensual, and Lily is soon overwhelmed by new experiences.

Lily realizes that what makes her weak at home is exactly what makes her extraordinary in New Salem. It also puts her life in danger. Thrown into a world she doesn't understand, Lily is torn between responsibilities she can't hope to shoulder alone, and a love she never expected.

But how can Lily be the savior of this world when she is literally her own worst enemy?
The Bad
Honestly I was so enthralled with the story that I didn't mark many things that I didn't like...

Maybe the beginning was a bit ridiculous with her crush on Tristan. Their relationship went bad so quickly and I know that Lillian needed Lily to want to leave her life, but the way it happened was a little fast.

Also her acceptance of everything was just so quick as well. I mean...It's hard to say you don't believe something happened when it's right in front of your face. But there wasn't much freak out time for Lily. Once she stumbles across Rowan everything is just accepted as semi normal

The Good
The idea behind the world building. I absolutely loved the concept for this book. It was so unique! It was awesome to see what would have happened if the witches had won against those that tried killing them in the Salem Witch Trials. I also like the idea that there are infinite numbers of universes out there. Universes containing every option we have ever had the option of choosing and what would have happened if we had made certain choices.

I liked how magic was basically science. It was a great way to make magic even more possible. And I also like how science was still known by some people even though it was outlawed by Lillian because with magic only those chosen at birth with the gift could produce things science could produce for the Outlanders. It let Witches remain in power.

I really enjoyed this first installment of the Firewalker series and I'm looking forward to reading the final two novels!
